Jet lag
8th Dec 2011
Years ago I remember Jet travel as an exciting part of summer holidays, aircraft were special and cool. Today air travel may be less glamorous but long-haul journeys are certainly a lot more comfortable! Currently the Cyrus team are traveling the world to introduce the latest Cyrus Streaming components, and I am happy to report, it’s a lot of fun. Cyrus’ Jeremy Brown was in Spain recently and presented all three streamers using some really exotic speakers from Vienna Acoustics (as pictured). The audience learned how to setup the computer systems for maximum performance and stability as Jeremy played files with the new Stream X and Mono X 300’s through a pair of Vienna Acoustics “The Kiss”. Expensive for sure but an incredibly good combination by all accounts!
I was visiting our Far East contacts and although the flights are long the two enforced gaps in Blackberry reception did provide several hours music time and space to make notes to explain why streaming has added an exciting new dimension for hi-fi enthusiasts.
My agenda was to visit distributors and expand our line-up of component suppliers. Although Cyrus manufacture in the UK many component manufacturers are based in the Far East and I like to travel with R&D there to keep abreast of developments and search out technical innovations. Filtering out the hype and spotting new ideas that show promise for the audiophile takes time and effort, nevertheless a good slug of new ideas were a good stimulant for blue sky thinking on the journey home.
Interest in our high-end music streaming platform is growing rapidly and fascinates everyone where we explain this new technology. After nine years of R&D into networked audio Cyrus has launched three models that overcome technical pitfalls and provide a stable, easy to use system. During our travels it was apparent that it mattered not if we were explaining the basics to Spanish, English or Chinese music enthusiasts, everyone is inspired and keen to embrace the benefits Cyrus streaming delivers.
Readjusting to the UK time zone is another challenge for sure but it’s worth it to experience the excitement we have generated around the globe.
Happy Christmas listening
