UpgradeabilityUpgradeability is a wonderful asset in any investment. However, Cyrus components have so many upgrade options that it could seem confusing, so here are a few helpful pointers … Adding Resolution Adding a PSX-R is the easiest upgrade to accomplish. Nearly every Cyrus component can benefit from the addition of our highly-regulated power supply. It feeds the sensitive electronics you paid for in your Cyrus component with super smooth power, thus allowing your system to reproduce music without the “noise” introduced into the mains supply by all the mass-produced electronics, such as computers and flat screen TV’s. As a general statement about the benefit of a PSX-R, we say that power supplies aid resolution. Adding Dynamics Adding more power is the second most popular upgrade after PSX-R’s. Adding a matching power amp will add dynamics in a system. This means the system will be closer to the live sound. As a general rule, the more power you have in a system, the better it sounds. It is a common misunderstanding that you match power to the room size, but whatever the room size, more powerful amps will sound better. The 6 Power can be upgraded to an 8 Power and the 8 Power can be upgraded to an X Power. Both the 8 and X Power amps can run in stereo or mono, so it’s easy to buy them in stages as funds allow. As a general rule, larger power amps aid dynamics. Moving Up To The Next Range Many of the Cyrus models can be returned to Cyrus for upgrade to the next model up. This has an immediate improvement to audio performance and is simple to arrange either via your retailer or directly through Cyrus’ Service Department. It extends the life of your investment and future resale value, should you upgrade further. Upgrading to SE from an earlier model Many Cyrus CD players are upgradeable to the latest SE models via an affordable return-to-factory upgrade. This allows existing customers to return their 6, 8 and Xt players to Cyrus and take full advantage of the Cyrus servo system. The upgrades replaces many parts with new components such as the advanced Servo Evolution PCB and software, plus our precision slot- loading mechanism. Some sections of the power supplies and main DAC PCB can be re-used, however, even these elements require modification to match the more advanced acoustic tuning of the SE players. This means upgraded players take full advantage of the additional resolution delivered by the more advanced SE systems. |
