FAQ - DAC X+ & DAC XP+
Q. What is the difference between the DAC X+ and the DAC XP+?
A. The DAC X+ is the highest quality Cyrus Digital to Analogue Converter, representing our most accomplished DAC technology. It is capable of taking a digital input from almost any digital source and enhancing the sound to audiophile quality. The DAC XP+ contains exactly the same advanced DAC technology, but also contains our highest quality pre-amplifier, so that it may be used as the central component in a high end Cyrus system.
Q. What connections do the DAC X+/XP+ use?
A. The DAC X+ and XP+ host six digital inputs (four COAXIAL, two Optical), an Optical output, a fixed line output, two pairs of balanced outputs and a PSX-R socket. The DAC XP+ adds two analogue inputs and a pair of pre-outputs.
Q. Does the DAC X+ require the CD8 SE2?
A. No, the DAC X+ is designed to improve the audio quality of any digital source component. It will work with the CD8 SE2, but has a more profound effect when used with components that have lower than hi fi audio quality when their internal D to A converter is used. Now the long awaited CD XT SE2 is introduced to complement the DAC X+ & XP+ and other established 'X' series components as a high-end 'digital optimised' CD source.
Q. What does the digital roll off setting do?
This setting is included to change the shape of the digital filter used by the DAC, selecting either fast or slow roll off will alter the sonic characteristics of the digital conversion. It can be thought of as a very subtle tone control.
A. Can I rename the inputs on my DAC XP+?
Yes, by pressing Set Up until the screen displays the input you wish to change. Rotate the dial to select the name you wish to change to. Wait several seconds and the DAC will save the settings.
